My tour began in the Philadelphia Museum of Art and extended as far as the Musee d’Orsay in Paris.
I also saw works by Van Gogh
Including my favorite Starry Night at the MOMA in New York City.
Of course it is impossible to physically visit all of these museums in one day, but thanks to Google Art Project, there are over 30,000 works of art online in 150 collections that span 40 countries.
This is a fabulous art resource that allows users to search by museum, art collection, artist or by a specific work of art. Individuals can also create and share favorite art selections online.
There is a lot of detailed information about the artists and pieces of art on the site. There are also links to the original museum sites.
In “Museum View” (similar to Google Street View) the user can move through 360-degree imagery of the actual museum while exploring the various rooms of art. Some works of art allow users to move up close to examine the brushstrokes.
Obviously, it is not as great as visiting the actual museums, but this is a wonderful online resource. I highly recommend Google Art Project!
